RIVERSIDE--- The California Baptist women's golf team will head to Payson, Arizona, to compete in the Western Athletic Conference Tournament beginning on Friday morning. The three-day event will be held at The Rim Golf Club at Chapparal Pines and will include a field of 11 universities.
Traveling to the tournament on behalf of California Baptist will be Sofia Chabon, Pusanisa Ekkantrong, Samantha Dizon, Esther Lee, and Burberry Zhang, and the alternate will be Damini Law Ghanshyani. Chabon and Ekkantrong have enjoyed a successful regular season, individually and with the program. Both have secured an individual championship across the last ten tournaments while also aiding the team in the squad's pair of team wins at the Rio Verde Collegiate Invitational and the Diamante Intercollegiate tournament.
The Rim Golf Club is a par-71 course that spans 7,193 yards. The course was built in 1999 and is currently owned by American Golfer Phil Mickelson with the signature hole as a par five 13th that ranges over 500 yards. The Lancers will be battling primarily against a solid Grand Canyon team, who they have faced several times this season.
The previous WAC Tournament was a successful endeavor for Head Coach Marc Machado's team after Hailey Loh emerged as the individual champion.
