Ekkantrong Named WAC Freshman of the Year Amidst Year-End Awards

ARLINGTON, TX--- The Western Athletic Conference announced the season awards for women's golf on Wednesday afternoon, naming Pusanisa Ekkantrong as Freshman of the Year and selecting senior Sofia Chabon to the All-WAC First Team.
Ekkantrong had a breakout freshman season under the direction of Head Coach Marc Machado, tallying her first career individual tournament win and placing fourth at the WAC Championship Tournament. The freshman ended her first season with a scoring average of 74.4 across 30 rounds, finishing the season in the top three twice and lifting the Lancers to a pair of team tournament championships.
Chabon also finished her collegiate career with a selection to the All-WAC First Team after ending the year with a 73.8 scoring average after 30 rounds of action. The senior ended her season with a pair of top-three-finishes. Chabon collected her first collegiate individual tournament win this season at the Payne Stewart Memorial.
