The WAC Releases Tournament Schedule and Format for 2024-2025 Season

ARLINGTON--- The Western Athletic Conference released the dates and new format for the 2025 Men's and Women's Basketball Tournament on Thursday afternoon.
The WAC will return to a nine-team single-elimination format for the 2025 Hercules Tires Basketball Tournament, to be held at Burns Arena in St. George, Utah on March 11 and at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas from March 12-15.
"Our basketball tournament is our signature championship event," WAC Commissioner Brian Thornton said. "In recent years we have tweaked the format to create the best experience for our student-athletes and institutions while seeking opportunities to add value for our fans. We are excited for another electrifying #wacvegas!"
The WAC Basketball Tournament has taken place in Las Vegas each year dating back to 2011 and has been played at various locations in the city a total of 16 times since 1997. The 2025 edition of the event will be the first WAC Basketball Tournament to have at least one round contested on a member campus since 2010.
Each tournament bracket will feature eight total games per gender, with the number eight and nine seeds competing in a play-in round at Burns Arena on March 11. The winner of the play-in round will face the top seed in first-round action on March 12 at the Orleans Arena. The No. 2 seed will take on the No. 7 seed in an additional first-round matchup on March 12.
The advancing teams from the first-round games will earn a bye to the tournament semifinal round on March 14. The quarterfinal winners of the No. 4 seed vs. No. 5 seed and No. 3 seed vs. No. 6 seed contests on March 13 will be the other semifinalists.
The CBU women's basketball team is coming off a record-breaking season in which they won the WAC Regular Season and Tournament Championships, earning a berth in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history. On the men's side, the Lancers are coming off a season in which they advanced to the Quarterfinals for the third consecutive season after besting #5 Utah Valley in overtime.
