SALEM, OR--- The California Baptist men's golf program posted an excellent week in Oregon after competing in the Oregon State Invitational, earning a third-place finish among 14 programs. Jared Abercrombie posted the best individual finish for the Lancers after securing second place among 80 golfers. The final results in Salem mark the program's first top-three finish and second top-ten finish this season.
The Lancers were extremely consistent across the two-day competition, and it was obvious from the first round after Abercombie and Lorenzo Lombardozzi both shot 72 through the first 18. The second round saw Bryden Brown go low with a 3-under par for the lowest of the tournament on CBU's side, while Abercrombie continued to stay consistent with a 70. The final round was the most successful as a whole for the squad after four Lancers shot under or even with par through the final 18 holes.
Ka'ena Kaulia had the best third-round score at 70 for a 27th-place finish, while Andy Yang shot 1-under to finish in 60th. Lombardozzi shot even with par to tie with Kaulia in 27th, while Brown finished in 21st. Abercombie finished in second place for the Lancers after shooting 1-under in the final round for his best individual finish yet this season.
California Baptist will round out its fall season during the first week of November as it competes in the Kapolei Invitational hosted by the University of Hawaii.
