Lancers Finish Fourth in Goodyear

GOODYEAR, AZ--- The California Baptist women's golf team headed to Arizona this week to compete in The Wigwam Preview hosted by Utah Valley. The Lancers finished in fourth of nine squads, with the best individual finish coming from Lisa Shimmon, and secured their fourth top-five finish this season.
Samantha Dizon opened the first round well, carding a score of 74, and would eventually finish the tournament in ninth. The second round was the lowest of the day for several Lancers, including Shimmon, Pusanisa Ekkantrong, and Burberry Zhang. Shimmon and Zhang shot 1-over par, but it was Ekkantrong who posted a perfect score of 72, which ultimately helped her place in ninth as well. Shimmon continued her low ways into the final round of the week and shot 2-over par to end in sixth for her second-best finish of the season.
Zhang ultimately finished in 25th, while Diletta Facchini ended her week in the desert in 49th. Additionally, Damini Law Ghanshyani, Abby Abarcas, and Nana Ishikawa competed as individuals, posting impressive finishes. Ghanshyani ended the tournament with a team-high 11 birdies on her way to 16th place, while Ishikawa finished in 20th and Abarcas ended in 38th.
The Lancers will continue their spring slate at the Alice and John Wallace Classic in Palm Desert from February 15th through the 17th.
