RIVERSIDE--- The California Baptist STUNT program opened the annual Joust Tournament with a 23-1 win over Arizona State on Thursday evening as they celebrated their senior class. CBU continues to dominate on the mat and improved its record to 12-0 this season, leaving just eight wins left for the perfect 100-0 program record.
After cruising through the first three quarters, the Lancers stumbled on a pyramid that denied them a perfect 24 points. CBU adjusted and pulled out the win, led by sophomore Maddison Arochi, who was named Highest Rated Player of the Game with 65 points. Alexcius York secured the title of Tumbler of the Game with 61 points on the mat, while Brodi Perrault cleaned up Stunter of the Game with 48 points. The 23-1 win is just the second time this season CBU has not secured all 24 points during a game, with the last time coming against the Sun Devils in Arizona earlier this year.
California Baptist will continue its quest to the Joust Championship on Saturday afternoon as they face Jessup at 5 p.m. The championship match is set for Saturday at 6:30 p.m. in the Dale E. and Sarah Ann Fowler Event Center.
