RIVERSIDE--- Hunter Leake will represent the California Baptist University wrestling program at the NCAA DI Wrestling Championships beginning this Thursday at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Leake became the first two-time NCAA qualifier and BIG 12 placer at the 2025 BIG 12 Championships after pulling off a pair of upsets in the 133lbs bracket. Leake bested third-seeded Julian Farber of Northern Iowa and sixth-seeded Cleveland Belton of Oklahoma to advance his way to the semifinals. Leake would come up short to eventual BIG 12 Champion Dominick Serrano of Northern Colorado and would medically forfeit his final two matches to end up with a 6th place finish in Tulsa, OK.
Leake enters the NCAA Tournament with an opening-round matchup with Nolan Wertanen of Michigan. A win for Leake would set up a matchup with top-seeded Lucas Byrd of Illinois. A loss would drop him into the consolation bracket. Leake will seek his first win in the NCAA Tournament and third in program history after Elijah Griffin won a pair of matches in last season's tournament.
