SANTA CLARA, CA--- Niya Bumbaca was named Gold Coast Conference Player of the Week following a career game against the Santa Clara Broncos on Saturday afternoon.
For the Lancers, it was the second time this season they have earned the honor from the conference after Celeste Almendariz was named Player of the Week after CBU's wins over Chapman and #22 CSUN. Bumbaca helped lead the Lancers to a 12-8 victory over the Broncos of Santa Clara in their penultimate conference road game and extend their winning streak to three.
Bumbaca had a career-high seven points and five assists in the victory while also chipping in a pair of goals in the road victory. The sophomore attacker is second on the team in assists this season with 26, and her five-assist game tied her for second all-time in program history for most assists in a single game. Her seven-point performance is also the most in a game from any Lancer this season.
Bumbaca and the Lancers are back in action this afternoon against the #10 LMU Lions in their final GCC match of the season.
