RIVERSIDE--- For the second time this season, Emmie Ramirez of the California Baptist University women's water polo team has been named the GCC Player of the Week.
The sophomore attacker led the Lancers to a conference road split this weekend with a win over #19 Pacific and a loss to #13 Fresno State in Northern California. Ramirez scored nine goals in the two games, including a five-goal game in the win over the Tigers on Sunday afternoon in Stockton.
Ramirez began the week with a four-goal effort in a loss at #13 Fresno State, accounting for half of the CBU offense. Ramirez followed that up with a career performance in the win over #19 Pacific. She tied a season-high with five goals, including two in the final minutes, to help secure the 13-11 victory over the Tigers. The win was the Lancers' first over Pacific since 2014 and the first as a GCC opponent in program history.
Ramirez currently leads the GCC in points scored with 118 and is second in total goals with 69.
Ramirez and the Lancers are back in action on Friday, March 27, against #7 LMU for Senior Day.
