CBU Kicks Off Home Campaign with a Thursday Win

RIVERSIDE--- On a busy evening for California Baptist Athletics, the men's water polo team kicked off Thursday night with a 16-8 win over Biola University at the Lancer Aquatic Center. CBU dominated the Eagles from the start and staved off a small comeback before securing its first home win of the season. The Lancers improve to 6-3 on the year.

Kevin Rosa's squad came out hot in the first period after Andrea Nuzzo led the way with the first goal of the game, before the Lancers would post five goals to Biola's three. The Eagles kept themselves within three of tying the game at the half before CBU found its rhythm and shut down the visitors' attack while adding four goals in the third frame. The Lancers ultimately secured the win with another four goals in the final quarter, while keeping Biola to just two for the eight-goal win.

Nuzzo led the way with four goals and one assist, while both Owen Fonua and Paulo Hernandez secured a pair of goals each during CBU's win. Tyler Carson showed out during his two periods of action between the sticks, posting five saves for the Lancers.

California Baptist will now turn its attention to next weekend, where the Lancers are set to participate in the MPSF Tournament hosted by UCLA beginning on September 19th.
