TULSA, OK --- It's been one week since the Lancers last squared off with someone other than themselves, as that break is scheduled to end tomorrow night with CBU's visit to the Sooner State. With the non-conference schedule winding down, the Lancers will take on Tulsa on Tuesday for the first time in program history.
CBU's last match came on Monday, September 8, a 1-1 draw with Cal State Fullerton. The schedule was set to resume on Friday in Morgantown, but an issue with West Virginia's facility forced the rematch with the Mountaineers to be canceled.
The Lancers are 3-1-1 to open the 2025 season, and they will look to return to the win column following back-to-back matches in which late goals have taken away victories. CBU led 2-0 entering the 85th minute of their visit to San Diego, but three goals in the closing minutes from the Toreros resulted in a 3-2 CBU loss. Then, in Monday's draw with Fullerton, the Lancers led 1-0 until a penalty in the 89th minute set up CSUF's equalizer.
Sophomore Blake D'Agostino enters Tuesday as the Lancers' leading goal scorer with four. D'Agostino has been a goal-scoring machine, scoring in four consecutive matches. Freshman Liam Jones is second on the team with three goals and seven points, followed by junior Stavros Charalampous with two goals on the season.
D'Agostino is second in the WAC in both goals scored and points (8).
Goalkeeper Hugo Do Rego has been a consistent force for the CBU backline. Do Rego has played all 450 minutes this season, allowing 1.4 goals per match to pair with a .720 save percentage.
The Golden Hurricane of Tulsa comes into Tuesday's bout 1-3-2 on the season. CBU and Tulsa share one common opponent this season, Fullerton, as Tulsa's meeting with the Titans ended in a 1-0 loss.
Tulsa has scored three goals on the season, with Gijs Hovius, Will Applegate, and Alex Cunningham finding the back of the net. Goalkeeper Carlito Saylon has a .722 save percentage in 540 minutes of action.
Tuesday's match, scheduled for 5 p.m. (PST), will be streamed live on ESPN+.
Following their return from Oklahoma, the Lancers will return to Riverside for their final two non-conference matches. CBU will welcome UC Irvine to Riverside on Monday, September 22. The non-conference slate wraps up on September 26 when the Lancers visit UC Riverside for the Crosstown Showdown.
