#16 CBU Secures Ranked Win Over #8 UC Irvine

LOS ANGELES, CA--- The California Baptist men's water polo team capped off its Los Angeles weekend at the Uytengsu Aquatics Center during the 2025 Overnight MPSF Invitational with its fourth-ranked win this season. The #16 Lancers secured a 15-13 victory over #8 UC Irvine on Sunday afternoon, improving their record to 8-5 on the year.

CBU came out hot from the first sprint, totaling six goals to the Anteater's four. The first frame was highlighted by Andrea Nuzzo's trio of goals that secured the early lead for the Lancers and would help CBU maintain a narrow advantage. The Lancers scored three goals in the second quarter, while UCI managed three as well, keeping the scoreline at 9-7 in favor of Kevin Rosa's squad by halftime.

The second half saw UC Irvine attempting to rally back with four goals in the third quarter, but an effective fourth frame with four goals for CBU would ensure the 15-13 win. Luca Imbriolo posted a hat trick for the Lancers, while Nuzzo capped off the game with four goals for 13 this weekend alone.

California Baptist will now return home to Riverside and play host next weekend for the annual Joust Tournament at the Lancer Aquatic Center beginning on Friday. The Lancers will play in five matches next weekend on their home turf, beginning with a game against Biola at 10 a.m.
