COLORADO SPRINGS, CO--- The California Baptist men's golf program kicked off its fall slate in the beautiful Colorado as TL Brown's squad competed in the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational hosted by Air Force. The Lancers showed well overall to open the season as Jared Abercrombie paced CBU through the three-day tournament, posting a top-25 finish.
The first round was Abercombie's best of the weekend after he shot 4-under to finish his first round at the top of the leaderboard, boosting CBU to finish tied for third as a team. Bryden Brown led the Lancers on the second day of the tournament with a 71, while Abercombie and Andy Yang both checked in with a 73.
The final round of the weekend affair saw Yang and Lorenzo Lombardozzi finish even with par for the best scores of the last day, giving CBU a 15th-place finish as a team of 23 programs. Abercrombie ended in 24th with a 1-under final tournament score, while Yang was just behind with 2-over. Lombardozzi, Lekkerkerk, and Brown all finished tied for 85th. In total, the squad accumulated 48 birdies as a team on their way to the team's best finish in program history at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational.
Brown's squad will now turn its attention to the second week of October as the Lancers head to Northern California to compete in the Visit Stockton Invitational hosted by the University of the Pacific.
