CBU Dominates Morgan State 37-10 on Saturday Night in Riverside

RIVERSIDE--- The California Baptist University wrestling team competed at home for the first time in 2026 and would reward its fans with a dominant 37-10 victory over the Morgan State Bears at Van Dyne Gym.
The Lancers won eight of the 10 matches in the dual, including bonus points in five, to earn their second dual victory of the season by 25+ points.
The duel began at 125lbs, as Cooper Shore faced off with Julian Dawson. Shore was dominant from the first whistle and would secure two takedowns and force multiple stall calls for the 9-1 major decision and an early 4-0 lead for the Lancers. Morgan State would forfeit the 133lbs bout and then would transition to 141lbs with Jesse Vasquez returning to the dual lineup to face Shawn Ryncarz. Vasquez showcased his incredible arsenal of moves in the bout with five total takedowns leading to a tech fall and five more Lancer points on the scoreboard.
Morgan State would finally get on the board at 149lbs with a tech fall of their own from Eugene Harney, but the Lancers would quickly come back with more bonus points at157lbs with Drayden Morton defeating Eric Tecson via a major decision 12-3. Gabe Schumm would keep things rolling for CBU with a 17-1 technical fall over Joshua Greenwood. Schumm would have three takedowns in the match and eight back points to secure the five team points for the Lancers. The Bears would collect their second and final win at 174 lbs with a major decision before the Lancers would close out the dual with a decision from Adonis Bonar at 184lbs and a 9-0 major decision from Eli Sheeren at 197lbs.
