RIVERSIDE --- Home is calling the Lancers, as CBU sets its sights on the Dale E. and Sarah Ann Fowler Events Center after a three-game road trip to open conference play. Looking for its first WAC victory of the year, the Lancers return to a venue in which they haven't lost this season, as two games make up the home slate of CBU Basketball this week.
The Lancers went 0-3 on their WAC opening road trip, a losing skid that followed a three-game win streak for the program. CBU finds itself 0-3 in WAC action for the first time in program history following losses to Utah Valley, UT Arlington, and Tarleton State.
On deck for the Lancers will be a pair of opponents from the Beehive State, as Utah Tech and Southern Utah make appearances in Southern California.
Utah Tech enters the week as the lone unbeaten team in the WAC, sitting 2-0 after victories against Southern Utah and Abilene Christian. The Trailblazers won both games by double digits, winning by 14 and 15 points, respectively.
The Trailblazers are led on both ends of the floor by Ethan Potter, as the 6-8 forward comes into the week pairing 16.1 PPG with 7.4 RPG. Three other Utah Tech players are in double-figures offensively, as Noah Bolanga (11.9), Chance Trujillo (10.9), and Jusaun Holt (10.3) add to a unit that averages 78.6 PPG.
Opponents are scoring 72.8 PPG against the Trailblazers.
The homestand continues on Saturday when the Thunderbirds of Southern Utah visit Riverside. The Thunderbirds come into the week 0-2 in conference action following losses to Utah Tech and UT Arlington. SOU will be in action on Thursday when it visits Utah Valley.
Southern Utah enters the week averaging 76.9 PPG, while opponents post an average of 81.3 against them. Elijah Duval (13.1) and Jaiden Feroah (11.7) lead the offensive charge as the only players averaging double-figures.
The Lancers continue to be led by graduate Dominique Daniels Jr., as he enters his fourth conference game of the season averaging 22.3 PPG in WAC action. Daniels Jr. scored 25 points in each of CBU's two games in Texas and has eclipsed 20 points in nine of his 15 games this season.
Daniels Jr. averages 21.1 PPG overall, the No. 19 scoring average in the country. Martel Williams is next on the Lancers with 13.8 PPG.
Following the homestand, the Lancers will play one game on the road against Abilene Christian before returning home for another two-game homestand.
