RIVERSIDE --- Senior Night in Riverside has arrived, as six seniors will be honored before the Lancers hit the field for an important Pac-12 matchup. Hosting the Aztecs of San Diego State, postseason positioning is still on the line as the Lancers remain in the hunt for the Pac-12's top seed.
California Baptist enters the weekend one point shy of Oregon State for first place. The Beavers will be in action at the same time on Saturday as they visit Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo. A win for the Lancers on Saturday clinches CBU a home match on November 7 for the Pac-12 semifinals, while a CBU win, paired with an OSU loss or draw, would elevate the Lancers into first place.
The conference regular season wraps up next weekend with the Lancers visiting UC San Diego.
Ahead of CBU first on the Pac-12 schedule are the Aztecs of SDSU. Postseason positioning has become a trend for these two squads, as their last meeting decided the WAC regular-season championship.
With the two teams squaring off in the final regular season match in WAC history, a goal by William Lawson in the 89th minute secured the Lancers their first regular season conference crown since transitioning to Division I. That day, coincidentally, was Senior Night for the Aztecs, who look to return the favor and play spoiler for the Lancers in 2026.
Postseason positioning is on the line for the Aztecs as well, who are tied with UC San Diego for third place. The top four teams at the end of the regular season advance to the Pac-12 Tournament.
CBU enters Wednesday after a 3-1 non-conference win vs. Cal State Fullerton on Wednesday. The victory elevated the Lancers to 10-3-0, placing the Lancers one win away from matching the most wins in a season since moving to Division I in 2018.
More meaningful, Wednesday's victory marked the 108th for coach Coe Michaelson since joining the Lancers. Michaelson, now in his 11th season in Riverside, became the program's all-time wins leader with Wednesday's result.
The Lancers saw their offense come via first-half goals from Uly Martinez and Nico Coope. Blake D'Agostino added a late penalty kick to conclude the scoring. For Martinez, the goal was the first of his collegiate career.
Martinez is one of six Lancers set to be honored on Senior Night. He is joined by Stavros Charalampous, Hugo Do Rego, Felix Ezekwuka, JR Gawel, and Drew Hardin.
The Senior Night ceremony will begin at 6:45 p.m.
Saturday's match is scheduled for 7 p.m. from the CBU Soccer Stadium. Tickets are available HERE.
