
CBU’s Nine-Game Win Streak Ends in St. George

ST. GEORGE, UT --- California Baptist took its nine-game win streak into St. George on Saturday, as the Lancers squared off with the red-hot Trailblazers of Utah Tech. In the end, it was a 70-65 finish in favor of the Trailblazers, ending CBU's run of wins and creating a logjam at the top of the standings.
Utah Tech is now 9-4 in WAC play, matching CBU's conference record. Saturday was UT's fifth win a row. The Lancers own the tiebreaker with two wins against UT earlier this season in Riverside. Utah Valley is a half-game behind both CBU and Utah Tech at 8-4.
Dominique Daniels Jr. led CBU's offensive pursuits with 29 points on 10-of-24 from the field. Jayden Jackson connected on six 3-pointers to finish with 20 points.
Noah Bolanga led the Trailblazers with 18 points, followed by Ethan Potter and Dario Domingos, who each finished with 11.
The Lancers narrowly led at the intermission, taking a one-point lead into the locker room with the scoreboard showing 28-27. Saturday's contest featured 11 lead changes and seven ties. The big swing came with two minutes to go when a 3-pointer put Utah Tech on top by three, a lead they did not relinquish over the final stretches of the game.
Utah Tech ended the game shooting 43 percent from the field and 47 percent from three.
CBU entered the night winners of nine in a row, a program record for their Division I era. Two of the wins in this streak came against Utah Tech inside the Dale E. and Sarah Ann Fowler Events Center.
The Lancers will return to action next week with a visit to Orem and Utah Valley. CBU and UVU split their previous two meetings, with both sides claiming victory on their respective home floors. Both CBU and UVU are unbeaten at home this season.
Thursday's clash in Orem is scheduled for 5 p.m. (PT).
