CBU Exits Utah After Thursday Loss in Orem

OREM, UT --- California Baptist men's basketball suffered its second loss in a row on Thursday, a 65-46 loss in Orem against Utah Valley. Thursday's result puts the Lancers a half game out of first place in the WAC with four games remaining until the conference tournament.
The Lancers sit at 9-5, tied with Utah Tech for second place. Utah Tech's five-game win streak ended on Thursday with a road loss against UT Arlington. Utah Valley takes over first place at 9-4.
Dominique Daniels Jr. led the Lancers with a dozen points. He added five rebounds. Daniels Jr. will have to wait one more week to mark off another milestone in his collegiate career, as he is now three points away from 3,000 for his career.
Jayden Jackson and Jonathan Griman each added six points. Bradey Henige led CBU with eight rebounds.
Three Utah Valley players finished the night in double figures. Isaac Davis led the way with 14 points. Tyler Hendricks added a dozen, and Isaac Hawkins finished with ten. Trevan Leonhardt ended the night with nine points and eight rebounds.
Thursday was the third meeting of the season between Utah Valley and CBU. UVU wins the season series by taking both games on its home floor. UVU is now 13-0 at home this season.
The Lancers, who are 12-0 at home this season, will play the next three in Riverside, starting with UT Arlington on February 26. The homestand continues with Tarleton State visiting the Fowler Events Center on February 28 for Homecoming.
CBU will end its home schedule on March 5 against Abilene Christian.
