2/26/2026 10:34:00 PM | Men's Basketball
RIVERSIDE --- The final homestand of the season started with a bang, as the Lancers topped UT Arlington, 68-56, to return to the win column. The night was highlighted by a pair of milestones as CBU looks to carry the momentum into the weekend and stay alive in the hunt for a regular-season conference championship.
Thursday's victory moves the Lancers to 10-5 in WAC action. CBU remains a game out of first place as both Utah Valley and Utah Tech picked up wins. The victory also extends CBU's home winning streak to 17 games and makes the Lancers a perfect 13-0 at home this season.
CBU is now 20-8 overall, marking just the second time in CBU's Division I era for the Lancers to reach 20 wins. The other 20-win campaign came in the 2019-20 season.
The highlight of the night came early in the game on a 3-pointer with just under 12 minutes remaining in the first half. Dominique Daniels Jr. drained the triple from the top of the arc, moving him over 3,000 points for his collegiate career.
Daniels Jr. ended the night with 28 points, putting him at 3,025 combined points between his time at San Bernardino Valley College and CBU.
But it wasn't just Daniels Jr. who had a milestone moment. His coach, Rick Croy, also reached another milestone, winning his 400th career game as a collegiate head coach. Croy has 270 wins with the Lancers, a tenure that came after 130 wins at Citrus College.
The Lancers were the aggressors on Thursday, holding the lead for over 34 minutes of game time. The lead jumped as high as 15 points with 9:30 remaining in the game. UT Arlington's only advantage was a two-point lead within the first five minutes of the game.
Jayden Jackson had a good night shooting the basketball, draining four 3-pointers, giving his side 12 points. Martel Williams also closed the night in double-figures with 11. Jonathan Griman led CBU's rebounding efforts with seven boards, followed by Thomas Ndong, who pulled down six.
CBU ended the night with 37 rebounds, an equal total to UT Arlington.
The Mavericks, who are now 7-9 in WAC action, were led by Casmir Chavis with 15 points.
CBU continues the homestand this weekend as Tarleton State makes its second visit to Riverside. This time, it will be Homecoming at CBU, with a special 6 p.m. start on Saturday. CBU topped Tarleton by one point in their previous meeting on February 5.
The homestand then wraps up next week with Senior Night on March 5 against Abilene Christian. Tickets for the final two home games of the season are on sale HERE.
