MSOC Preview: Home Schedule Kicks Off Monday Night Against Denver

RIVERSIDE --- Fresh off a week in North Carolina at Duke University's John Rennie Invitational, the Lancers have returned to Riverside for the first homestand of the 2026 season. CBU will kick off its home slate of games on Monday night when the University of Denver visits the CBU Soccer Stadium for the first time.
The Lancers finished 1-1 in North Carolina, earning their victory in shutout fashion against Campbell. CBU's top two goal scorers from a season ago, Blake D'Agostino and Liam Jones, netted the Lancers' two goals in the win.
Freshman Justin Ojo netted the Lancers' lone goal in a 1-0 loss to Duke to end the trip.
Monday night's visit from Denver continues a stacked non-conference schedule that features four matches against teams receiving votes or ranked in the United Soccer Coaches' preseason poll. Denver received votes in the preseason poll, but has since dropped from the rankings after the first week of the season.
The Pioneers came into the 2026 season after winning the Summit League Tournament a season ago, sending Denver to the NCAA Tournament, where they went 1-1, earning an opening round win against Kansas City. Denver hosted their first-round matchup in last year's national tournament, making them the second of three consecutive tournament hosts from 2025 on the Lancers' schedule.
Duke also hosted the opening round, winning twice in Durham before losing in the third round. San Diego, CBU's next opponent, was an opening-round host but lost to Grand Canyon, a program CBU will visit next month.
The Pioneers are off to a 0-1-1 start to the 2026 season and will be in action on Friday night when they visit UCLA. Denver kicked off its season last week with a 2-2 draw against Pac-12 program Cal Poly. The Pioneers then visited Stanford for the first of three matches in California. The Cardinal were victorious in that meeting, 3-1.
Like the Lancers, Denver's offense has been spread out to start the season, with its three goals being scored by three different players. Forward Kyle McGowan is back for his fifth year after leading the Pioneers with 11 goals, earning Summit League Offensive Player of the Year honors.
CBU and Denver share another similarity in that both universities transitioned to new conferences last year. The Lancers call the Pac-12 home in 2026 after eight years in the WAC. Denver moved from the Summit League to the WCC.
Monday night's match, CBU's 2026 home opener, is the first of seven home dates for the Lancers in 2026. Season tickets are on sale HERE for only $50. The match will also be streamed on ESPN+, with kickoff coming at 7:05 p.m.
