MSOC Preview: Lancers Kick Off Road Trip Friday Night in Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES, CA --- After finishing 1-1 on their two-match homestand, the Lancers are returning to the road as a two-match road trip kicks off Friday in Los Angeles. Squaring off with LMU for just the third time as a Division I program, the Lancers will be getting their third consecutive look at the West Coast Conference (WCC).
The Lancers enter Friday night's match with a 2-2 record and are on the heels of a 2-1 loss against No. 7 San Diego. Saturday's meeting with USD, the annual Welcome Weekend match at CBU, saw a record 1,762 fans fill the CBU Soccer Stadium.
CBU kicked off that homestand with a 2-0 win over Denver. Both of CBU's victories this year have been by 2-0 finishes, with junior Blake D'Agostino and sophomore Liam Jones scoring in the victories. D'Agostino netted the Lancers' lone goal against San Diego, a second-half penalty, his third goal of the year.
D'Agostino is a perfect 7-for-7 on penalty attempts in his collegiate career.
Goalkeeping continues to be something to watch for the Lancers, as four matches in, minutes have been equally split between senior Hugo Do Rego and freshman Ulrik Stroem. Both goalkeepers have logged 180 minutes and are the beneficiaries of shutout victories. Do Rego earned his tenth collegiate shutout in the Lancers' opening day win against Campbell. Stroem was in net last week for CBU's shutout of Denver. Both goalkeepers have recorded three saves this season.
Do Rego is one of five Lancers with experience playing at LMU's Sullivan Stadium. The Lancers last visited LMU in 2024, a 1-0 win for the hosting Lions, a night that saw Do Rego record a CBU Division I era record 12 saves. Do Rego and Stavros Charalampous played all 90 minutes of that contest. Drew Hardin, Luis Borrero, and D'Agostino saw time in reserve.
The Lions enter Friday night with a 1-3-1 record to start the season. LMU's lone victory, a 1-0 finish, came against UNLV on September 2. The Lions were last in action on Monday, a 1-0 loss against Cal Poly.
LMU has scored just two goals through its first five matches of the season. Ismail Nieves and Axel Uriostegio Lopez has the Lions' two tallies. On the defensive side, Ky Mani Dade has played all 450 minutes in goal, allowing 1.20 goals per match with a .714 save percentage.
Friday will be the first of two straight on the road for the Lancers. CBU will travel to Phoenix next week to take on Grand Canyon in the first non-conference meeting in the rivalry's history. The Lancers will return to Riverside on Sunday, September 20, to host the University of the Pacific.
Friday's match is slated for a 6 p.m. kickoff from LMU's Sullivan Field. The contest will be streamed online via ESPN+.
