Tyler Nordgren was hired as California Baptist University baseball's assistant coach in July of 2022. He works with the Lancers' hitters, catchers, infielders and assists with recruiting.
Nordgren previously served as Louisiana State University's Director of Baseball Operations during the 2022 season under Head LSU Coach Jay Johnson. He also spent the 2021 season under Johnson at the University of Arizona when the Wildcats won the Pac-12 championship and reached the College World Series.
Prior to joining Johnson's staffs, Nordgren spent a lot of time in his hometown of San Diego. He worked as an assistant coach at Point Loma Nazarene University in 2020 after he played for the Sea Lions in his collegiate career (2010-14).
Nordgren coached PLNU's catchers, infielders and hitters and assisted in recruiting. He was a standout third baseman for the Sea Lions and earned All-PacWest honors as a senior in 2014. He hit .356 as a senior and .371 in his junior season. He graduated from Point Loma in 2013 with a BA in business administration and later earned an MBA in sports administration from Tiffin University.
He began his coaching career at James Madison High School in 2018-19, where he played two varsity seasons. After college, he went on to play four seasons of independent baseball across the Pacific Association and Can-Am League.
