- Transferred the following year to wrestle at division I Hofstra Univ. in 2008-2009
- Finished his true freshman year at Indiana with a record of 22-16, gathering four pins and two major decisions
- Placed sixth at the Big Ten Championships as a true freshman
- Qualified for the NCAA tournament freshman year
- Finished in fourth place at the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament during his spell at Hofstra
- Qualified for the NCAA Championships for a second year
- Ended his sophomore year at Hofstra with a record of 18-10
- Won the Illinois state championship his junior year in 2006
