SANTA CLARITA, Calif. --- Heading towards its biggest match of the season with Friday's contest against No. 2 Fresno Pacific, the NAIA's No. 3-ranked and 2-time defending champion California Baptist is back in the win column.
The Lancers, who at 2-straight losses, were in the midst of their largest losing streak since 2004, bounced back with a, 30-21, 30-23, 30-27, sweep of The Master's.
The win bumps California Baptist to 23-5, 13-3 on the season, as 2005 NAIA Player of the Year Verania Willis ripped 20 kills on 36 attempts en route to a .472 hitting percentage.
The Lancers hit .360 overall, including an errorless 17-0-34 effort in the first set to knock the Mustangs to 7-18, 4-11.
Rachel and Amanda Roleder each posted 15 kills for The Master's, but were held to a combined .150 hitting clip while Shi Fei and Brittney Barton complimented Willis with 7 kills apiece for California Baptist.
Caitlin Parker hit .714 (5-0-7), put up 28 assists and a trio of service aces for the Lancers. Katrina Clark posted 17 digs.
