FRESNO, Calif. --- Senior Alyssa Turner's first goal of the year couldn't have come at a better time.

With her team struggling to generate offense for the first 35 minutes of the second half, Turner took it upon herself, drilling a beautiful goal from way outside the box and into the upper corner of the net to break a 1-1 tie in the 79^th minute and lift the NAIA's No. 16-ranked California Baptist to a 2-1 win over Fresno Pacific Saturday night in Fresno.

The win is the Lancers' fourth in a row as they improve to 8-1, 2-0 GSAC. The Sunbirds drop to 3-3-2, 0-2.

The Lancers outshot the Sunbirds, 8-7, but only got 2 second half shots. Turner's was the second.

CBU struck first late in the first half when Jacalyn van den Raadt headed home her first goal of the season just 28 seconds prior to halftime. Monica Lydon played her the ball off a free kick outside the box.

The lead, however, didn't last long as just 3:13 into the second half Amy Kampf buried a rebound to tie the game at 1-1. The Sunbirds kept the pressure up the rest of the way, getting 5 of their 7 shots in the second half. They came close to getting the equalizer when Ashley Soderholm hit the post in the 86^th minute, but the Lancers averted trouble and held on.

Sophomore Heather Andrews made just one save before being replaced by Ashley Aranda in the 87^th minute. Micah Reyes collected 4 first half saves for the Sunbirds.
