RIVERSIDE, Calif. ? California Baptist University had 12 different people get into the scorebook Tuesday night, but the Lancers lost their second straight, falling 74-65 to No. 13 Point Loma Nazarene.
The Lancers (11-7, 3-5) turned the ball over 25 times, and shot just 28.9 percent in the second half in the loss. Point Loma's Colleen Planeta scored a game-high 25 points and grabbed 12 boards to lead the way for the Sea Lions.
Nicole Davis scored a team-high 14 points while Kendra Morris added 11. Davis also dished out seven assists. Heather Couzens and Brenna Hahn each scored eight points. Couzens also pulled down eight boards to match a team-high with Alyson Haley.
The Lancers won the battle of the boards (48-41), outscored the Sea Lions' bench (26-13) and missed just two free throws the entire night, but gave up 25 points off of turnovers.
Eight different Lancers found the bottom of the basket in the first half as CBU was 14-for-30 from the floor. The Lancers opened the game on an 8-2 run before the Sea Lions took their first lead of the game at 9-8 with a 7-0 run. Point Loma then led 18-17 with 12:14 left in the half before the Lancers took their largest lead of the half at 31-22 on a 14-4 run. The Sea Lions though were able to cut it to 35-31 at the end of the half.
Point Loma opened the second half with a 14-4 run to take a 45-39 lead and didn't trail from that point on. CBU cut it to 46-44 with 13:14 left in the second half, but that was as close as the Lancers came.
It was the first time since the 2004-05 season that the Lancers have lost three straight at home.
The Lancers now go back on the road with a pair of GSAC games at Biola, Saturday, and then out to Vanguard, Jan. 27.
