A lone goal by Dixie State in the 71st minute capped the Lancers' shutout streak at a staggering 611 minutes and 55 seconds, the second longest such streak in program history.
The Lancers fired away early and often in the game, striking first in the 17th minute and taking a 2-0 lead into the half. Natosha Yanes scored twice off the bench for CBU as the Lancers got 18 players on the field in the contest.
"This is really one of the deepest teams we have had in recent years," said CBU Head Coach Kristen St. Clair. "To be able to create a variety of different scoring opportunities top to bottom on our roster is exciting to see as a coach. The girls worked hard all game to put each other in positions to be successful no matter who was in there."
CBU fired 19 shots in the contest to 11 for Dixie State. Both of Yanes' strikes in the game found the back of the net.
Kelly Jenks cleaned up the mess in the box, putting back a rebound for the Lancers first goal 17:43 into the game. Jenks is second on the team with 10 scores on the season.
Then Yanes scored her first of the day, finishing a quick cross on the run from Chantel Cappuccilli in front of the goal at the 39:39 mark. Yanes would later cap the scoring with probably the most spectacular goal of the game as she netted a diving header from 20 yards out on a sharp cross from Silvia Sanchez in the 86th minute.
"I just got some great assists from my teammates today and was able to finish them," said Yanes. "I hadn't been using my head much early in the season after my concussion, but I saw that ball coming at me on the last one and just reacted."
Yanes is now tied for fourth on the team with four goals.
"Natosha had a great day," said St. Clair. "She has been putting in so much work in training to get sharper and she was rewarded for that today. We're fortunate to have a number of great attacking players and Natosha is one of them."
Daelyn Paul also scored for CBU, driving home a penalty kick in the 54th minute for her fifth goal of the season.
Dixie State's lone goal was scored by Megan Marchbanks as she floated a ball over CBU keeper Rosie Nakata that just found the upper right corner of the goal.
The win moves the Lancers to 11-2-1 overall, 10-1 (30 points) PacWest, while the Red Storm fall to 6-8-2, 6-6 (18 points). The victory keeps the Lancers tied in points and ahead in the loss column with Azusa Pacific for the top spot in the conference standings.
