RESULTS TEAM RESULTS
RIVERSIDE, Calif. — California Baptist University hosted the Inland Empire Invitational on Saturday, competing against Whittier College and the University of Redlands.
Josh Hanson grabbed four first-place finishes in all the events he competed in, including the 200-yard medley relay (1:36.27), 100-yard backstroke (51.11 seconds), 200-yard butterfly (1:52.35) and 400-yard IM (4:01.73).
Nikolay Klepikov grabbed three first-place finishes in men's 100-yard breaststroke (58.86 seconds), the 200-yard breaststroke (28.98 seconds) and the 200-yard IM (26.42 seconds). Chaffin Blake took second for the Lancers in the 100-yard Freestyle (59.92 seconds), just a few second behind Klepikov.
Derek Wedel also took first place for the men's 200 yard freestyle, clocking in at 1:45.55.
On the diving board, freshman Zach Mullins qualified on the 1-meter board with his 11-dive list. Kendall Rummell had a strong second-place finish on the 1-meter, scoring 254.45 while Andrew Rotundo followed right behind in third place, scoring 240.4.
In the second round of competition, Mullins received another automatic qualifying score on both his 6-dive and 11-dive list. Mullins scores were 305.35 on the 1-meter 6-dive list with a first-place finish and 482.75 with an 11-dive list.
"This is some of the best diving we have ever seen out of a freshman," said diving coach Jeff Couto. "Lancers watch out for this kid to be one of the best in the nation."
The Lancers will compete again on Nov. 1 at the Pomona Relays in Pomona, Calif., beginning at 10 a.m.
