SACRAMENTO — California Baptist University hasn't been racing a full team, yet still has been dominating its competition. Saturday, the Lancers ran a full squad and kept up their dominance.
The No. 12-ranked Lancers took third overall, behind two NCAA Division I teams, with a total of 141 team points. In a battle of the top-two teams in the NCAA Division II West Region, second-ranked CBU showed its superiority over the top-ranked Wildcats. It bested the No. 3 Division II Chico State team, which took fifth overall. CBU also beat out top teams in Division I, downing UC Davis and Cal – the 13th and 8th-ranked teams in the Division I West Region.
Katie Deimling led the Lancer pack, taking 13th overall out of 174 runners. She finished second amongst all Division II athletes with a time of 21:09.8 – a new personal best.
Freshman Anett Somogyi also shined in the 6K event with a new personal record as well, crossing the finish line in 21:14.9.
