CBU Ends Non-Conference Season

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Bryce Macy and John Glenn both logged two hits in California Baptist University's series finale at 12th-ranked Colorado Mesa on Saturday, but the No. 14 Lancers could not defeat the Mavericks in a 10-1 loss.
CBU ends the non-conference season with a 9-5 record, while CMU improves to 7-5. The Lancers open the PacWest season with a four-game set with Fresno Pacific Thursday at 6 p.m. at Totman Stadium.
Colorado Mesa took a 2-0 lead in the second inning, but the Lancers would not go away quietly. Alfredo Rodriguez led off the top of third with a single to shortstop and moved to third on consecutive grounders. Macy delivered a clutch single back to short to score Rodriguez and make it a one-run game.
The Mavericks' offense was tough to hold back the rest of the way, however. Morgan Earman came on strong and threw a scoreless eighth inning for CBU, striking out two batters on just 11 pitches.
