All-West Regional Team Makes Room for Lancer

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Brian Ruhm ended his collegiate career by being named to the NCAA Division II All-West Regional team at the conclusion of the playoff tournament for California Baptist University.
Ruhm, a senior outfielder, gave the Lancers a representative on the team for the second year in a row. It came as no surprise, as Ruhm led the tournament in total bases, slugging percentage, home runs and ranked second in runs batted in.
CBU placed four players on the 2016 All-West Regional team, with A.J. David, Bryce Macy, Mark Sanchez and Ryan Williams being selected. This year, the Lancers finished one win shy of championship Monday where they ended up last season.
At the end of the year, CBU amassed a 35-18 record, going 25-11 in PacWest play to take third in the conference. It also defeated the No. 1 and 2 ranked teams in all of Division II, eliminating top-seeded Chico State from the West Regional on a score of 14-2. Collegiate Baseball Newspaper ranked the Lancers 21st in D-II at the end of the regional.
Overall, Ruhm batted 4-for-12 in three games for a .333 batting average and slugged 1.083 for another tournament best. He hit three home runs, drove in seven runs and scored three times on the week.
