CBU Excited To Get the Ball Rolling

RIVERSIDE, Calif. — There's just a little over a month until California Baptist University kicks off its new season and the Lancers can't wait to get the ball rolling.
Last year, the Lancers finished 10-5-3 overall and came up just one point shy of the PacWest Championship (9-2-2). This year, CBU has its heart set on going out of the conference on top and securing a postseason berth.
CBU opens its final season competing at the NCAA Division II level on August 31 when local foe Cal State San Bernardino comes for an 11:00 a.m. kick off. The following week the Lancers continue nonconference action at home, hosting Cal State San Marcos on Sept. 7, also at 11:00 a.m. Two days later, CBU hits the road for the first time, heading to Cal Poly Pomona for a Saturday night game. The Lancers and Broncos kick off under the lights at 7:00 p.m.
With two games left before PacWest play begins, CBU takes off on a plane to Oregon for a game against Concordia University of Portland on Sept. 13 and continues north to Washington for a contest at Saint Martin's.
The Lancers return home to open conference action as two Hawaiian teams come to town on Sept. 21 (Hawaii-Hilo) and Sept. 23 (Hawai'i Pacific). The following week CBU faces a tough opponent on the road, heading to St. George, Utah, to take on Dixie State.
October has CBU back at home to host three conference foes, including Concordia (Oct. 4), Point Loma (Oct. 7) and Point Loma (Oct. 12). The action ramps up from there as the Lancers head out on the road for three-straight contests, taking on Fresno Pacific on Oct. 14 before returning to SoCal for a Thursday night game at rival and defending PacWest Champion Azusa Pacific on Oct. 19 and a Monday contest at the conference's newest member Biola four days later.
CBU's last two home events take place Oct. 26 and 28 when Holy Names and Academy of Art, respectively, come to town. The Lancers conclude the regular season at Dominican (Nov. 2) and Notre Dame de Namur (Nov. 4) with hopes of extending the year into the postseason as the NCAA Division II West Region tournament kicks off the following week.
