STEPHENVILLE, TX--- The California Baptist women's soccer program picked up its first draw during conference play on Thursday evening as it battled Tarleton State to a 0-0 final line. The squads would hold each other scoreless through the 90-minute match despite several good attempts from both offenses. California Baptist moves to 6-2-1 in conference play and will head to Abilene to close out the regular season on Sunday afternoon.
The first half was quiet for the Lancers as the squad battled TSU's offense, and were outshot five to two in the first 45. Mikayla O'Brien came up with two saves to keep the match scoreless before the script flipped in the second half. CBU settled in and began getting creative in the final third, forcing the Texan goalkeeper to make four saves.
In the end, the squads maintained a competitive game that mainly saw even numbers across the box score for a single point in the conference standings. With Utah Valley's win over Abilene Christian, CBU can no longer secure a piece of the WAC regular season title but will enter the tournament as a two-seed next week.
The Lancers will now compete against ACU on Sunday afternoon to close out the regular season and stay sharp before returning to Utah next week for the conference tournament, which starts on Wednesday.
