Lancers Grab Academic Honor

RIVERSIDE, Calif. — Both California Baptist University men's and women's soccer teams earned the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for the 2017-18 academic year.
To qualify for the award, the team must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 or higher for the entire academic year. The team GPA is determined by adding every player's GPA, then dividing by the number of players.
CBU was one of 212 schools that had both their men's and women's programs recognized. CSU Bakersfield, Grand Canyon, Seattle U, The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and Utah Valley all represented the Western Athletic Conference with both teams earning the award.
A total of 817 college teams (308 men, 509 women) from throughout the United States earned the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for exemplary performance in the classroom as a team during the 2017-18 academic year.
The Lancers close out the final home stretch of their season this weekend, with the men hosting Kansas City on Friday at 12:30 p.m. and the women concluding their inaugural NCAA Division I season right after at 3 p.m. against the University of Montana. CBU's men also play on Sunday at 3 p.m. when Houston Baptist comes to town.
