RIVERSIDE, Calif. – For the fourth year in a row, California Baptist University is headed to the NCAA Division II Super West Regional. The 11th-ranked Lancers received the third seed overall in the West, as they look to advance to the Division II Championships for the first time.
CBU is headed to the Super West Regional at the Hillcrest Golf Club in Durango, Colo. The tournament tees off May 7 and goes through May 9. The top-three teams and three individuals not with a team from the 12-team super regional after 54 holes will advance to the D-II Championships, which will be held at the Bay Oaks Country Club in Houston May 16-19.
The Lancers have come close to advancing out of regionals the last four years and took fourth in the Super Regionals in 2015 and 2017.
Third-ranked Dallas Baptist and No. 7 Cal State San Marcos earned the top-two seeds, respectively, for the West Regional, which is being hosted by Fort Lewis College. The West could be the toughest regional of all, with 10 top-25 ranked teams competing, as No. 13 Tarleton State, No. 14 West Texas A&M, 17th-ranked Academy of Art, No. 19 Cal State Monterey Bay, No. 15 St. Mary's, 20th-ranked St. Edward's and No. 22 Midwestern State rounding out the top-10 seeds in that order. Sonoma State and Colorado-Colorado Springs complete the 12-team regional.
CBU has won four tournaments and has two other runner-up and one third-place finish this season. The Lancers won their fourth-straight PacWest Championship by 32 strokes last week. They are averaging a team score of 299.85 a round, which is a program record by more than 1.7 strokes.
