Lancers Finish Final Round of Nick Watney Invitational

FRESNO --- California Baptist University finished the final round of the Nick Watney Invitational on Tuesday, as the Lancers placed 14th out of 15 teams.
The 54-hole event took place at the Fort Washington Country Club, as Fresno State hosted the 15-team field tournament.
Brigham Young put on quite a display in the final round, moving away from its first-day tie with Long Beach State to take first place. BYU shot a team score of 822 to finish 30-under-par after lighting up the course with a 16-under-par team score – the lowest of the three rounds.
Long Beach State finished in second with a 25-under-par team score of 827, while San Jose State moved up one spot to finish in third at 23-under-par (829).
The Lancers finished with a 287-296-290=873 to finish in 14th place.
Both Justin Cross and John Hayes cracked inside the top-50, as Cross finished at T-30th and Hayes took T-41st.
Cross finished his three rounds with a 1-over-par 68-74-72=214, while Hayes signed a 3-over-par 71-73-72=216.
Dan Heron shot a 73-75-73=221 to place T-69th, Ryan Monsalve finished T-74th with a 75-74-73=222 to improve in each day in his three rounds. Jack Solis rounded out the lineup with a 76-75-77=228 to place 87th.
Peter Kuest of Brigham Young and Hunter Epson of Long Beach State shared individual medalist honors after the pair shot a 13-under-par 200 total.
CBU will be back in action in two weeks when they travel to Corvallis, Oregon, to take on the Oregon State Invitational on Oct. 14-15.
