CORVALLIS --- The second round of the Oregon State Invitational has been suspended due to darkness after 12 of the 15 teams weren't able to report scores. California Baptist University is currently in a tie for 14th out of 15 teams.
The two-day 54-hole event is taking place at the Trysting Tree Golf Club in Corvallis, Oregon, hosted by Oregon State. With cloud cover all day, the sun set a little earlier than expected, as course officials had to postpone the second round due to darkness.
Air Force, Gonzaga, and Seattle U were the only three teams to finish the second round before competition was halted.
Oregon State currently leads the 15-team field with an unofficial 18-under-par team score. San Francisco is in second with a 1-under-par team score, and Utah is in third with a 6-over-par.
The Lancers are tied with Air Force in 14th with a 37-over-par team score.
Michael Sarro, John Hayes, and Justin Cross all finished the first round with a 6-over-par 77. Ryan Monsalve shot a 79, and Jack Solis finished with an 83.
Sarro's day was cut short by one hole, as the freshman is currently 1-under-par through 17 holes in the second round.
The second round will resume at 9 a.m. on Tuesday. The final round will be a shotgun start immediately after the second round is concluded.
