Monsalve Leads Lancers at Visit Stockton Invite

STOCKTON --- California Baptist University teed it up for the final time this fall season at the Visit Stockton Invitational on Monday, as the Lancers finished the first round in 15th.
Pacific is hosting the Visit Stockton Invitational at The Reserve at Spanos Park. The course is being played as a par-72 at 7,315 yards.
San Jose State finished the first 18 holes as the day one leader with a 6-under-par team score of 282. Long Beach State was right behind SJSU in second with a 2-under-par 286. Sacramento State placed third, while Santa and CSUN finished in a tie for fourth to round out the podium.
Ryan Monsalve led the Lancers on the day, as the junior shot a 2-under-par 70. He started his day on hole 10, and it didn't take long for him to find the red. Monsalve birdied holes 11, 12, 16, and 6 to finish day one in a tie for third.
Michael Sarro made his first collegiate start at the No. 1 spot for the Lancers, shooting a 2-over-par 74. Sarro matched R. Monsalve with four birdies on the day, as he birdied holes 11, 16, 4, and 6. He currently is T-43rd.
John Hayes finished his day T-81st with a 6-over-par 78, while Ivan Monsalve shot a 10-over-par 82 to place T-92nd. Dan Heron finished his round with an 84 and is in 95th.
Sean Yu of San Jose State is the current day one leader with an 8-under-par 68 on the card.
The Lancers will look to move up the leaderboard in the second round on Tuesday, Oct. 22, at 8 a.m.
