SANTA CLARA --- California Baptist University matched up against No. 9 Harvard Crimson on Friday at the Julian Fraser Memorial Tournament, as the Lancers dropped the top-ranked match, 15-12.
The top-ranked Crimson entered the pool with a perfect 18-0 record and seven wins over top-20 teams. This marked the second time the Lancers had faced Harvard in the water, as the last time they met came back in 2013 when the Crimson came away with an 11-10 nail-biter.

Harvard opened up the second quarter with three straight goals to take its first lead of the match at 6-4. The Lancers responded with a pair of goals to cut the deficit to one and even tied the score up two more times before going into the half down by one, 8-7.
Coming out of the break, the Lancers looked to reclaim their lead with a couple of quick shots. Harvard was able to score two-straight goals in the third quarter, giving the Crimson a two-goal lead the rest of the way.
CBU trailed the rest of the match but didn't go down without a fight, scoring two more goals in the final quarter.
