Schrader took third place at heavyweight and Raya finished in the top eight at 149 pounds, with both finding success in very different ways. Schrader won his first three matches to advance to the third-place bout, as the only Lancer left standing in the evening session. Raya battled back in the consolation bracket, and was one of the final eight 149-pounders left on the day.
It propelled CBU to a ninth-place finish among official teams in Reno after taking 11th in 2018. The Lancers end the year 2019 with a home dual against Drexel on Friday at 7 p.m. in the Van Dyne Gym. CBU will then head into Christmas break.
Schrader, who was seeded fourth for the tournament, easily won his first two matches on Sunday. He pinned Oregon State's Christian Robertston with 20 seconds left in the first round of his opener, and then majored Southwestern Oregon Community College's JJ Perez, 13-4.
