Hallam Takes Second at UCSB Collegiate

RESULTS
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – In its final round of the regular season, California Baptist University moved up to a fifth-place finish at the UC Santa Barbara Collegiate on Tuesday.
Conditions were significantly more challenging in the third and final round at the Sandpiper Golf Club, but the Lancers logged the second-best score on Tuesday with a 294. It completed an 876 (293-289-294) that was just one shot off fourth place UC San Diego (875).
It is the Lancers' fourth top-five finish at an NCAA Division I tournament in their first year as a D-I member. Host UC Santa Barbara won the event with an 868, while UC Riverside (870) and Weber State (871) were packed tightly in the top three.
Senior Ben Hallam ended his final regular-season tournament in a big way, as he jumped six spots up the individual leaderboard to a season-best, runner-up finish. He shot one-under-par 71 on Tuesday to complete a one-under total of 215 (72-72-71).
It kept Hallam's season-long streak of top-30 finishes intact, and was his fourth top-10 and second top-five performance this year. UC Riverside's Andrew Spilman won the event with a 213 (70-71-72).
Harrison Kingsley enjoyed a six-spot climb in the third round, too, with a 73. The freshman tied for a 12th-place finish with a 219 (71-75-73), which was his second-best tournament finish this year.
Dan Heron and Justin Cross were exact mirrors of each other all week, as both shot 75 on Tuesday and tied for 18th place with 221s (75-71-75). It was the first top-20 finish for both Lancers this year.
Daeyoung Kim's impressive CBU debut ended with him shooting 76 on Tuesday. He tied for 41st place with a 230 (79-75-76). Ryan Monsalve took 45th individually with a 233 (79-77-77).
The Lancers take about a two-week break before concluding their inaugural NCAA Division I campaign at the Western Athletic Conference Championships from April 27-29 at the Pacific Northwest and Oakbrook Golf Club in Lakewood, Wash.
