Lancers Play Hornets to a Double OT Draw

SACRAMENTO, Calif. --- The California Baptist University women's soccer team closed out its Northern California road trip with a 2-2 double-overtime draw against Sacramento State on Sunday.
In the early moments, the Lancers dominated possession and shots as they put the Hornets in a panic on defense.
Ten minutes in, the fast-paced Lancers worked a ball down the sideline that found its way inside the box. Karley Weeks pounced on the opportunity, as the sophomore buried her right foot behind the ball, sailing it to the high point of the net. The ball bounced off the crossbar and went straight down, crossing over the line for the first goal of the game.

It didn't take long for the Hornets to respond, though, as the home team managed to score 18 minutes later on a strike by Kylee Kim-Bustillos.
The rest of the first half came down to possession, as each side looked to gain control.
CBU went into the break with the game tied at 1-1. The Lancers recorded three shots in the first 45, with all three shots on frame.
In the second half, the Lancers used their technique to their benefit with crisp passes across midfield. With possession on its side, CBU was able to draw a foul at the 56th minute outside the 18.
Rola Badawiya lined the free-kick up for the Lancers and curved a beautiful ball to the right corner of the net for the second goal of the game.
In the final moments, it seemed as if the Lancers were going to come away with the 2-1 victory, but Sacramento State had other intentions. Kim-Bustillos was able to put a ball on frame in the 89th minute that found its way into the net for the equalizer.
CBU dominated the two extra periods of play with four shots but came up unsuccessful in scoring the golden goal. The Lancers ended the game with 10 of their 14 shots on frame.
Coach St. Clair and the rest of the team will come back home for a match against Incarnate Word on Friday, Sept 13, at 3 p.m.
