
Lancers Close Out WAC Meet with 5 Top-5 Performances

Jacob Leahy secured third place in the 100-yard freestyle for the biggest highlight of the day, but the Lancers also showcased their strength in diving, breaststroke and relay events. CBU will know turn its attention to the 2020 College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America National Invitational Championship (CSCAA NIC).
CBU finished in fifth as a team, with 423.5 points, at the CRWC Natatorium on the campus of the University of Houston. Air Force won the team title with 864 points, while UNLV (692), Grand Canyon (559.5) and Wyoming (539) rounded out the top-four. CSU Bakersfield (341.5) and Seattle U (139.5) took sixth and seventh.

Leahy clocked a bronze-medal swim and automatic cut for the CSCAA NIC and consideration time for the NCAA Division I Championships, with a time of 43.46 seconds in the 100 free. Josh Walters took 13th in the event with a CSCAA NIC consideration time of 44.71.
Walters and Leahy then teamed up with Kyle White and Matthew Niculae for a fourth-place swim in the 400-free relay (2:57.07) in the final event of the weekend.
Divers Evan Honer and Tyler Stevens both took finished top-five on the platform. Zane Freeman (238.15) added an 11th-place finish in the event for CBU, as well.

Honer improved by 25.90 points from prelims (255.65) to finals (281.55) to move up from eighth to fourth. Stevens scored his highest-ever score in the event with a 281.95 in prelims, which ranks third in CBU history, and tallied a 264.25 in the finals.
Sean Foster and Colton Babcock put up top-six time in the 200 breaststroke, as Foster took fourth (1:59.81) and Babcock came in sixth with a personal record of 2:00.58. Ryan Schade also came in 12th in the race (2:02.49).

Both Quinn Birtles and Christian Meyer both posted PRs in the 1650 free. Birtles took 10th in 15:42.57 – a top-three time in CBU history, while Meyer placed 13th in 15:50.28, a top-five mark. Robert Moseley (1:47.32) and Joe Molinari (1:48.54) turned in top-14 times in the 200 back.
The 200 butterfly saw three Lancers place in the top-16. Adityastha Wratsangka (1:49.35) and Birtles (1:49.69) took 11th and 12th, respectively, while David Miller finished 16th (1:50.44).
