Cross Leads Lancers on First Day at Bandon Dunes

BANDON --- California Baptist University's men's golf team finished the first round of the Bandon Dunes Championship in 15th after shooting a 303 team score.
The 16-team field is comprised of some of the best teams on the west coast, including top-ranked Washington and UCLA.
Oregon State is leading the field by three strokes after shooting a 3-under-par 281 on the legendary Bandon Dunes Resort – Pacific Dunes course. According to Golf Digest, the Pacific Dunes Golf Course is ranked at No. 17 in the top-100 best golf courses in the United States.
UCLA and Seton Hall are tied for second after an even-par 284 team score, and Washington is in fourth with a 2-over-par 286. The Lancers are nine strokes off the top-10 with a 19-over-par 303.
Justin Cross is the day one leader for the Lancers, shooting a 3-over-par 74 to place T-43rd. James Mackie was right behind Cross with a 4-over-par 75 and is T-57th. Both Ryan Monsalve and John Hayes are T-78th with a 6-over-par 77, while Jacob Smith is T-97th after carding an 81.
Nathan Cogswell of Seattle University went into the clubhouse as the day one leader with a 6-under-par 65.
The second round will take place on Monday, March 9, with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday's final round will be featured on College Golf Live, where fans can tune in from noon to 5 p.m. EST.
