Raya opened his day with a pin of Simpson's Jaden Madden in four minutes, 23 seconds. He battled but lost close decisions to opponents in Power 5 schools, Oregon State's Isaiah Crosby (6-3) and Oklahoma State's Jalin Harper (4-1) to take fourth place in the bracket.
Hallmark rattled off a team-high six wins on Sunday, with three on bonus points. He started with a 13-1 major over an unattached Ricky Torres, a 16-0 tech of Southern Oregon's Travis Thorpe and then claimed a 10-6 win over an unattached Benji Alanis. He lost a close 6-3 decision to Grand View's Jack Latimer in the quarterfinals and then won his way into the fifth-place match with a pin in 3:52 against an unattached Rudy Lopez after a no-contest victory. In his first action on the mat since the season opener, Almaguer used three narrow decisions for a strong start to his season. He went 5-1 overall, with three wins by two points or less. He opened with a 16-8 major of Eastern Oregon's John Bittinger and then picked up a 6-5 win on Montana Northern's Chase Short.
Almaguer overcame a quarterfinal loss to Northern Colorado's Nick Knuston with decisions over Grand View's Jacob Shoop (10-3) and Cal Poly's Nathan Tausch (3-1). It put him in the fifth-place match versus Embry-Riddle's James Williams.
It was Williams who jumped out to a 5-1 lead early in the second quarter. Two takedowns and an escape in the final 2:35 from Almaguer forced overtime. He remained the aggressor in the extra session and secured the sudden death victory.
