AZUSA – California Baptist University track clocked three new top-10 times in program history and top-13 finishes in the 1500 meter on the final day of the prestigious Bryan Clay Invitational on Saturday.
Elin Brink, Florian Le Pallec and Giedrius Valincius both ran in the fastest 1500 heats and did not disappoint, with historic times coming from all three Lancers.
CBU found itself up against some of the best competition in the country this weekend at Azusa Pacific, against runners from UC Santa Barbara, Santa Clara, Long Beach, UC Riverside, Saint Mary's, San Francisco, Cal State Fullerton, Loyola Marymount, Pepperdine, Pacific, San Diego and more.
Brink provided the highlight of the night when she clocked the third-best women's 1500-meter time in program history. She took 13th place in the event overall in four minutes, 23.13 seconds, which is less than three seconds off Berenice Cleyet-Merle's CBU record of 4:20.69 from 2017.
It makes Brink just the second Lancer to run a 4:23 in the 1500 meter, as Cleyet-Merle is responsible for CBU's the other top-five times in the event. Anna Mate also ran in the event on Saturday and took 37th in 4:40.58.
Le Pallec and Valincius finished back-to-back in 12th and 13th place in the elite 1500 meter heat on the men's side Saturday. Le Pallec finished in 3:46.51, while Valincius put together a 3:46.76, with those times ranking fourth and seventh in CBU history, respectively.
