
Citherlet Leads Charge For Lancers At Golfweek Fall Invitational

PAWLEYS ISLAND --- California Baptist University opened its season at the Golfweek Fall Invitational on Sunday, as the Lancers finished the first round in a tie for fourth out of 18 teams.
The 18-team field teed it up on the par-72 7,005 yards True Blue Golf Club. CBU put together an even-par 288 team score to finish in a tie for fourth with Wofford College and Temple. Mercer came out strong, opening the tournament with a 15-under-par 273 team score to hold an eight-stroke lead. Jacksonville State is in second with a 7-under-par 281 team score, and Delaware sits in third with a 5-under-par 283 team score.
Freshman Sean Citherlet led the way for the Lancers, firing a 3-under-par 69 to finish in a tie for seventh out of the 93 golfers. It was a near-perfect day for the freshman, carding just one bogey with four birdies and 13 pars.

James Mackie battled to shoot an even-par 72 at T-22nd, ending his round with three straight birdies. John Hayes finished behind Mackie at T-31st with a 1-over-par 73. After recording a double on hole 13, Hayes ended his day with an eagle on the 548-yard par 5 to stay even on the back. His eagle was one of four carded on the day.
Ryan Fisher is currently T-43rd with a 2-over-par 74. Fisher also finished his round strong with two straight birdies. Min Jun Kim rounded out the Lancers' lineup, sitting at T-87th with a 9-over-par 81.
CBU, Wofford, and Temple will all tee off together on Monday, Sept. 13, at 5:30 a.m. (PST) for the second round.
