
Mackie Goes Low During Second Round At Golfweek Fall Invitational

PAWLEYS ISLAND --- California Baptist University produced a 5-under-par 283 team score during the second round at the Golfweek Fall Invitational, as the Lancers sit in a tie for sixth among the 18-team field.
It was a day of red numbers, as 12 of the 18 teams carded rounds with an under-par team score. California Baptist improved upon its day-one score of 288 with a 5-under-par 283 to combine for a 571 team score. The Lancers are tied with Campbell University, as the Fighting Camels shot a 9-under-par 279 team score to move up three spots.
With the completion of the second round, Mercer is still in the driver seat, following up its 15-under-par 273 with a 14-under-par 274 team score. With a 29-under-par 547 team score, Mercer leads the field by 17 strokes. Delaware is in second with a 12-under-par 564 team score, and Temple moved up one spot in third with an 11-under-par 565 team score. Jacksonville State and Tennessee Tech are in a tie for fourth with a 9-under-par 567.
James Mackie was the low finisher for the Lancers on the day, carding a bogey-free 5-under-par 67. It marks a new career-best for the junior, as he previously recorded two 68's during his two seasons at CBU. Mackie climbed up 13 spots and is tied for ninth with a 5-under-par 72-67=139.

John Hayes and Sean Citherlet are both currently T-34th with a 145 total. Hayes opened his round at 3-over after three but battled back and went 3-under through the remaining 15 holes for an even-par 72. Citherlet managed to record 16 pars on the day with one birdie but scored a 10 on hole four at the par-5 to shoot a 4-over-par 76.
Ryan Fisher is currently T-56th with a 74-74=148, while Min Jun Kim shaved 11 strokes off his first round with a 2-under-par 70 to move to T-74th.
Harry Jones of Wofford College is the clubhouse leader after day two with an 11-under-par 65-68=133. He holds a one-stroke lead over the field of 93 golfers.
CBU will look to make its final move on Tuesday, Sept. 14, for the final of the Golfweek Fall Invitational. The shotgun start is set at 4:45 a.m. (PST).
