
Lancers Finish Final Round At Golfweek Fall Invitational

PAWLEYS BEACH --- California Baptist University closed out the final day of the Golfweek Fall Invitational on Tuesday, as the Lancers finished their first tournament of the season tied for 10th out of 18 teams.
The Lancers put together a 1-over-par 288-283-294=865 team score to tie with Wofford College for the three-day event at 10th.
It was a showdown for the top spot, as Mercer entered the final round with a 17-stroke advantage over the field. Delaware erased the deficit with an 18-under-par 270 to edge the Bears by one stroke with a 30-under-par 834 team score. Mercer finished in second with a 29-under-par 835 team score, and Campbell moved up three spots to take third after shooting a 14-under-par 274 on the day.
James Mackie finished the 54-hole tournament with a 6-under-par 72-67-71=210 to place T-15th out of 93 golfers. His second day of a 5-under-par 67 marked a career-best for the junior and helped propel him up the leaderboard.
Sean Citherlet carded a 1-over-par 69-76-72=217 to place T-38th, while John Hayes recorded a 3-over-par 73-72-74=219 to take T-45th. Ryan Fisher finished with an 11-over-par 74-74-79=227 to place T-78th, and Min Jun Kim rounded out the Lancers' lineup at T-81st with a 12-over-par 81-70-77=228.
Harry Jones, who participated as an individual for Wofford College, won the event with a 17-under-par 65-68-66=199.
The Lancers will tee it up next at the Nick Watney Invitational on Sept. 27-28 as Fresno State will host the two-day event at San Joaquin Country Club.
