WBB PREVIEW: Lancers Open 2022 At Home Versus Chicago State
1/3/2022 2:00:00 PM | Women's Basketball
RIVERSIDE - California Baptist University women's basketball is preparing to open the new year and the Western Athletic Conference schedule at home on January 8 against Chicago State. The two teams have a lopsided history, with CBU owning a 6-0 record against CSU, winning by an average of 29.8 points per game.
Last weekend, the Lancers were set to begin WAC play against Seattle U, but COVID protocols within the Redhawk program forced that game to be postponed. The game has been rescheduled for Jan. 17.
Despite the delayed start to conference games, the Lancers still maintain the best overall winning percentage in the WAC at 81.8 even as half of the league has begun conference play.

Time: 1 p.m.

Chicago State begins the week with an overall record of 1-9 (0-1 WAC) after falling to Grand Canyon 66-49 on Dec. 30. However, CSU will likely arrive in Riverside with a different record as it is set to travel to Seattle on Jan. 6 to take on the Redhawks. The Cougars' lone victory this season came in overtime against the Big Ten's Wisconsin, 71-63, back on Nov. 22.
The Cougars are led this season by freshman phenom Aaliyah Collins, who is leading the team in scoring (16.1), assists (2.4), and steals (3.1). The reigning Washington State Player of the Year boasts the second-best scoring average in the conference behind CBU's Caitlyn Harper (18.5) and the 17th-best steals-per-game average in the NCAA.
